Please see the latest from the City of Edinburgh Council. Wester Hailes High School will update you as things develop over the next few weeks.
Dear all,
Prior to the summer break we shared information that a bell-to-bell ban on mobile phones in schools would be implemented from August.
A supplier of pouches has been identified and the product is being evaluated to make sure it represents good value and functions well. We know that a key concern is around exemptions and reasonable adjustments for pupils who may need access to their phones during the school day. Please be reassured that work on this has taken account of feedback.
Assuming the product suits schools’ needs and implements the committee decision, we expect schools will receive pouches during September and by the October break. We will keep you updated on when you can expect to receive a pouch or pouches for you child/children.
Meantime, please be aware that a bell-to-bell ban is now in place which we all need to work together to respect. Until pouches are distributed, please keep mobile phones turned off and out of sight during the school day. Guidance regarding exemptions, and reasonable adjustments, is currently being finalised.
